Description

"This role will define architecture across: ? Instrument control software ? Real-time scheduling systems ? Device drivers and hardware abstraction layers ? Regulated (GxP) compliant data systems Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design ? Define end-to-end architecture for multiplexing: o Multi-LC ? single MS orchestration o Real-time scheduling engine o Stream state management o Valve routing control ? Design modular, scalable, and deterministic systems ? Establish low-latency communication models between devices Core System Development ? Architect and guide implementation in: o C++ (instrument control, drivers, real-time layer) o .NET (C#) (UI, orchestration, workflow, services) ? Define hardware abstraction layer (HAL) for: o HPLC stacks o MS systems o Valves and peripherals Driver & Instrument Integration ? Lead development of: o Device drivers (USB / Ethernet / RS232 / CAN) o Instrument communication protocols ? Define command/response models and error handling ? Ensure synchronization across multiple instruments Real-Time Scheduling & Coordination ? Design multiplex scheduler: o Injection staggering o MS time-slot allocation o Conflict resolution ? Implement event-driven architecture for: o timing-critical workflows o deterministic execution Data Integrity & Compliance ? Ensure correct sample-to-data association ? Define: o audit trails o electronic records o compliance with GxP / 21 CFR Part 11 ? Architect data acquisition context management Reliability & Fault Handling ? Design robust handling for: o device failures o timing delays o communication drops ? Implement: o retry strategies o safe fallback states o recovery workflows (e.g., reinjection, rerouting) Leadership & Collaboration ? Work with: o Product management o Firmware teams ? Mentor senior engineers ? Drive technical decision-making and standards Required Skills ? Strong experience in: o C++ (modern C++11/14/17) o .NET / C# (WPF or modern UI frameworks) ? Experience in multi-threaded and concurrent systems Device & Driver Development ? Hands-on experience with: o Device drivers / instrument control software o Communication protocols: ? TCP/IP ? Serial (RS232/RS485) ? USB ? Experience with real-time or near-real-time systems Architecture Expertise ? Proven experience designing: o Distributed systems OR o Real-time orchestration platforms ? Strong understanding of: o event-driven architecture o state machines o scheduling algorithms Domain (Highly Preferred) ? Experience in: o Analytical instruments (LC, MS, HPLC, GC) o Lab automation systems ? Understanding of: o chromatography workflows o acquisition timing constraints Compliance & Quality ? Experience with: o GxP environments o regulated software development o audit trails and validation (V&V) Key Competencies ? Systems thinking (hardware + software integration) ? Strong debugging and problem-solving skills ? Ability to handle timing-critical systems ? Communication across cross-functional teams Ideal Candidate Profile ? 12?18+ years experience ? Background in: o Instrumentation companies (SCIEX, Agilent, Thermo, Shimadzu) o Medical devices o Industrial automation ? Has built end-to-end control systems, not just UI/backend One-line JD Summary Looking for a Solution Architect to design a real-time, multi-instrument orchestration platform (LC-MS multiplexing) using C++, .NET, and device driver technologies in a regulated environment."
